How our links work

When we recommend a product, the buy button links to that product on Amazon through a tagged affiliate link (routed via a /goredirect on our own domain). If you click through and buy, Amazon pays us a small commission on that sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without our link — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket.

Prices come from Amazon, and they change

Every price on this site is pulled live from Amazon's Product Advertising API and stamped with the date we last checked it. Prices and availability change constantly. If our data is more than 48 hours old, we removethe number and show "Check price on Amazon" instead of risking a stale figure. Whatever Amazon shows at checkout is the price that counts.

Commissions never change a ranking

This is the important part. Our rankings come from a published rubric— specs, geometry, and value math — and the commission a product pays plays no role in where it lands. That's why you'll find inexpensive knives at the top of our lists, and why we'll tell you to buy the cheaper option, or to buy nothing at all, when that's the honest answer. No brand pays us for placement, and no manufacturer sends us products. Full details are in our editorial policy.

Where we link

Amazon is our default retailer because it carries almost every knife and sharpening tool we cover and its pricing is transparent. We only build tracked links to programs we've actually joined. If we ever add a link to another retailer, the same rule holds: it never changes a ranking, and we'd only send you there if it were genuinely the better option for you as the buyer.
